Meet the Team: Marcus

As Ribit is all about the interns, we’re stoked to introduce Sydney-based Marcus, an Applied Physics/Creative Intelligence & Innovation UTS student and Renaissance man*

*Seriously though, we’re yet to encounter something this man can’t do.

What was your first job?
Heroically saving lives at the local pool (Well, not really – not a single person needed saving in the 4 years I worked there! I put it down to preventative risk management…)

Your current job?
I’ve interned with Ribit for nearly 2 years now, assisting with everything from web and UX design, data analytics, marketing and strategy, research and event management. When I begun, I actually had no clue how to do any of these things!

Does pineapple belong on pizza?
Yes. Sorry. (Cries in Canadian)

Where and what do you study?
I’m 3 years into a combined bachelors in Applied Physics / Creative Intelligence & Innovation at UTS.

Years/Months/Days/Second since last coffee?
I enjoyed a Soy Latte at t-plus 6 hours, 21 minutes and 37 seconds ago over approximately 6 minutes and 28 seconds with an error of 0.5 seconds.

But I’m a tea drinker at heart. I’ve had 3 of those in the past 12 minutes.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I’m fascinated by complexity and dynamical systems theory (think: Chaos Theory), so I would love to work in anywhere from industrial ecology to sociological modelling or even in a design firm; I want to apply my mathematical and physics skills to problems where one wouldn’t initially think they would be useful!
